Resolved Question: How to find the strength to get back up after failing?

When I dropped out of med school to follow my heart and pursue a degree in journalism, my mother disowned me and told me I'm a failure. I took that as an incentive to be the best I could be. I'm now 28 and in the past 6 years, I managed to work at my favourite tv station and a prestigious web company. Last year, I was laid off and I used the money from the severance package they gave me to pay off my debt. In the meantime, I found a decent job working from home for a social media company. I don't like it but it pays the bill. 2 months ago, a headhunter contacted me for prestigious job for a popular website that's launching a new edition. It felt like it was meant to be. I went through 4 interviews and in the end, they picked someone who had a bigger presence in the local media scene. I am really bummed because it was the job of my dreams. I haven't found any job matching this one so far. I've decided to work on my first blog in order to make myself more marketable, but my confidence is so low right now that I've lost my motivation.
